The FRCP Office is available to assist you through all stages of the funding process. Whether you’re searching for a funding partner, preparing for conversations or meetings with a foundation, or in need of assistance preparing a strong proposal, our office has the institutional expertise and knowledge to help you seamlessly navigate to your goal!

Our office maintains relationships with many foundations and corporations, and we actively partner with faculty to identify appropriate prospects, connect you to funding opportunities, and provide guidance on reporting.

We provide the following suite of services and resources to assist you in the pursuit of funding:

Services

Our strategic proposal development services position you for success! We connect private foundations with faculty by:

  • Partnering with faculty and administrators across UC Berkeley to develop strategic and compelling foundation proposals

  • Outlining a strategy that will align your ideas with funder priorities

  • Conducting custom prospect research for faculty around discrete, innovative projects 

  • Develop compelling proposals

  • Providing a list of current and anticipated foundation funding opportunities

  • Tracking your proposals and contacts in the Advancement database

  • Working with faculty to plan foundation visits and advise on communication with foundations
  •  Working with Research Administration and the Sponsored Projects Office on pre-award and post-award

Resources

Designed to assist you in your search for foundation funding and improve your fundraising skills, our comprehensive resources include:

  • A robust library of topical research, funder profiles, and comprehensive campus giving data

  • An international prospects list searchable by areas of interest (ie. biomedical, humanities, fellowships, prize, exchange, etc.)

  • Group and individual trainings in prospecting and proposal writing

  • Institutional documents for proposals (990s, operating budgets, board lists, etc.)

  • Listings of new and upcoming Requests for Proposals (RFPs)

  • Are you grant ready? Determine whether you have everything needed to apply for funding
  • Eureka  is the central campus resource for fundraisers and development professionals to communicate and collaborate.

  • Berkeley's sponsored projects office has a suite of resources to support you in your proposal development
  • Phoebe Search quick guide - a tool that Principal Investigators (PIs) can use to see all the UC Berkeley proposals and awards that include their name as a PI or Co-PI.

  • Award process at UC Berkeley
  • Award setup - when a proposal or contract is finalized, the award amount and the sponsor's terms and conditions for how funds should be spent and reported are fixed.
